Ranaboldo Named General Manager of Lavazza Premium Coffees
Ennio Ranaboldo has been appointed general manager of Lavazza Premium Coffees Corp., the company's New York-based subsidiary.

"It is an honor to have been selected to manage Lavazza Premium Coffees Corp. throughout America at this time," states Ranaboldo, "when the company is refocusing on its mission to be the foremost provider of Italian coffees to the foodservice and office coffee service markets, as well as supermarkets and specialty stores."

Ranaboldo has worked for Lavazza in various capacities since 1990. His career moved him from marketing and sales in the foodservice department to director of the Group's Public Relations and Training, a position he has held for six years.

Tully's Names New Director of International Operations
Peter Hoedemaker has been appointed as director of international operations at Tully's Coffee Corp. He will be responsible for overseeing Tully's international operations and expanding the company's overseas markets. The company currently has international locations in Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, and Sweden.

Hoedemaker joined Tully's in 1997 as director of retail. His responsibilities included overseeing all domestic retail operations and, during that time, he played an integral role in expanding the company's 13 stores to 70 stores.

Staff Changes at Carlisle Foodservice
A number of new promotions and appointments have been announced at Carlisle FoodService:

Kevin Allen has been promoted to marketing manager. Denise M.E. Woodard and Deborah Moore have been appointed as marketing services project coordinators. They will be responsible for handling the design and production of flyers, brochures, and literature for the company. Susan Worthman has been appointed as the new materials manager for Oklahoma City and Mexico operations. She will oversee all aspects of materials management for Carlisle's Oklahoma City and Mexico operations. Mike White has been appointed as the new manager of lean process, overseeing manufacturing and production operations.

In the sales department, Erin Shannon has been appointed as the new district sales manager for the Western Region. She will oversee all aspects of sales management for dealers/distributors and operators in the southern California area. Craig Hagedorn, new director of sales for the Eastern region, is the chairman of NAFEM Smallwares committee and who has been elected advisory council for NAFEM, will now oversee the day-to-day management of the company's entire Eastern region. Tim Riordan has been appointed as the new director of sales for the Central region. Steve Haith, who previously held the positions of director of sales, Western region, and most recently director of sales, Eastern region, has been promoted to director of national sales, responsible for all domestic sales.

Coffee Man Elected as New Brazilian Sport and Tourist Minister
Carlos Melles, Federal Representative of the State of Minas Gerais and former president of Cooperativa Regional de Cafecultores de São Sebastiãe do Paraise Ltda., has been appointed as the new Brazilian minister of Sport and Tourism.

Melles is well-known in coffee circles as a coffee grower, cooperative president, and elected representative for rural interests in the Federal Congress. In his initial press conference, Melles admitted that he was not well-versed in sport and tourism but that his actions as political Minister will be to serve with dignity and sincerity the areas involved the Federal Government. It has further been noted that, as with the Cafe do Brasil program, Melles may have influence in promoting Brazil coffee through sporting events like the Colombian Federation does in international tennis, skating, skiing, and other events and through trade media.

Appointments at PBI
At Pacific Bag, Inc. (PBI), Mark V. Howley has been appointed as the new vice president of sales and marketing, and Glenn Sacco has assumed the role of Northeast regional sales manager.

"The promotion of Mark and Glenn will help us continue our growth of sales and service to our customers in the Northeast and throughout the U.S.," states Matt Young, company president. "Our strategy of value-added single source packaging solutions for the specific markets is enhanced by this organizational change."
