Solo Cup’s Sweet New Plates, Bowls and Containers

Bare by Solo are a new line of plates, bowls and takeout containers made with sugarcane, a renewable material. Called Sugarcane Dinnerware, the square, ivory-colored plates and bowls come in a one-piece, hinged clamshell design, and provide an environmentally preferable alternative to polystyrene foam containers. All Bare by Solo sugarcane products are compostable in a commercial composting facility and available nationwide.

Bare by Solo is the industry’s first full line of eco-forward single-use foodservice products for restaurants and consumers made using recycled, recyclable, compostable or renewable materials, according to the company. The sugarcane products expand the Bare by Solo line to include meal service items along with the popular eco-forward paper and plastic beverage cups.

The Jasmine Pearl Tea Merchants Eco-Packaging

The Jasmine Pearl Tea Merchants released a new product line of loose-leaf teas packaged in Eco-Canisters, a more environmentally responsible alternative to the company’s traditional metal tea tins. The Jasmine Pearl is introducing the change in packaging following their official USDA organic certification by Stellar Certification Services in Philomath, Oregon.

The new Eco-Canisters are comprised of a 100% recycled content paper tube wrapped in a 100% recycled paper label, with recyclable plastic end caps. The interior contains a re-sealable bag, made of a sustainable harvested plant-based material that is certified biodegradable. All of the packaging components are made in the U.S. The announcement comes with the introduction of 18 certified organic teas packaged in Eco-Canisters and 30 conventionally grown varieties.

Bottled Tea to Benefit Breast Cancer Research

The Republic of Tea has added a limited edition tea, Sip for the Cure PassionFruit Green Tea, to their beverage line. Proceeds from this unsweetened glass bottled iced tea will benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.

One of Komen for the Cure’s first official partners, The Republic of Tea develops popular Sip for the Cure retail teas and related products to benefit the organization, donating $750,000 to date. This new glass bottled iced tea is the first of the Sip for the Cure collection.

The Republic of Tea’s restaurant line features nine tea “experiences” made from organic leaves, brewed and bottled. Each iced tea is calorie-free, all natural and kosher.
