Curtis’ Generation 3 Alpha Decanter Brewing System
Wilbur Curtis Company, Inc. introduces the Generation 3 Alpha Decanter Brewing System, a commercial coffee brewer that provides digital control over the three most important aspects of the brewing process - time, temperature, and volume. The digital board is sealed to keep out harmful effects of heat, moisture, and other physical damage.

The G3 Alpha is equipped with a lighted digital display that lets the operator know the status of the brew cycle, along with the local service provider’s phone number and an on-going diagnosis of all operations. The system is also pre-set at the factory for ideal brew temperature and volume for easy set-up and use.

Other features of the G3 Alpha Brewing System include: heavy-duty stainless steel construction, a full coverage spray head, a freshness timer, an efficient energy savings of 20% per brewer, and an instant hot water faucet. The system is available in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors.

New Coffee Vent Tape
Pechiney Plastic Packaging (PPP) recently introduced its new Coffee Vent Tape.

Pechiney Plastic Packaging’s Coffee Vent Tape is a proprietary system that runs a ribbon of film lengthwise through the package and seals it in the end seam. A reed valve is created in the packaging process. When pressure develops inside the bag through the release of CO2 gas, the seal opens up and vents the package. Then, as the inside pressure decreases, the valve closes to keep outside gases from entering the package. The one way pressure release allows the coffee to degas while in the package, avoiding the cost of expensive degassing valves.

This cost-effective packaging solution offers a number of value-added alternative to traditional degassing valves. With PPP’s Coffee Vent Tape it is now possible to package whole beans or ground coffee immediately, eliminating holding periods and improving both operating efficiencies and product quality. It can improve purchasing flexibility, important when considering new equipment purchases. Current filling equipment can be retrofit at minimal cost, eliminating the need for expensive degassing valve equipment. This system is compatible with most popular Vertical Form Fill Seal Machines from General, Triangle, Key-Pack and others.
