John Conti’s New Hires
Dean Schlader was recently named vice president of sales and marketing at John Conti Coffee. He comes from Shell Oil Products U.S. in Houston, Texas. Schlader says, “I am very excited to be a part of an organization with such a rich heritage and reputation for excellence in product quality and service. John Conti has been a Louisville tradition for more than 40 years and is truly the “best coffee in town.”

DeeDee Peterson was named chief financial officer. She comes after having served as CFO for Quest Outdoors. Peterson is a current member of AICPA.

Cindy Farnsley was named category manager hotel/motel. She comes to john conti after 10 years in Security Distribution at ADI. Finally, Tracy Zack was named marketing/sales assistant.

Tully’s New VP
Tully’s Coffee has announced Paul Curhan as the company’s vice president of marketing and merchandising.

In addition to overseeing Tully’s marketing operations, Curhan will be responsible for all of Tully’s brand positioning, retail concepts, merchandising, and new product development across all channels of distribution.

Most recently, Curhan was director of international marketing and business development for Amazon.com where he worked on the marketing and plan implementation for international retail sites.

“Paul is an extremely qualified candidate to lead our marketing department in a direction that will enhance our overall company strategies,” said Tony Gioia, president and CEO of Tully’s Coffee. “I look forward to working with Paul and to having him join our exectutive team at Tully’s.”

Dillanos Adds to Sales Team
Dillanos Coffee Roasters has added two new members to their sales team. Jeff Woods is slated to work the metropolitan Seattle region, and Anna Gutierrez’s territory includes Tacoma and surrounding areas.

Jeff Woods was born in Brussels, Belgium, and has lived in several countries and states before settling with his family in the Seattle area.

Anna Gutierrez has been involved in the coffee industry as a barista since 1999. As her love for the coffee business grew, so did her desire to be more challenged in the coffee world.

Starbucks Canadian President
Orin Smith, president and ceo of Starbucks Coffee Company announced the appointment of Colin W. Moore as the first president of its Canadian operations. Moore brings to this position more than two decades of executive leadership experience within the soft drink and quick service restaurant industry, as reported by The Globe and Mail.

Moore will be responsible for the overall stewardship and management of Starbucks brand and retail operations for Starbucks Coffee Company in Canada. He previously held the position of Senior Vice President of Tricon Restaurants International, a former PepsiCo subsidiary and the world’s largest restaurant company.

David Michael’s New Hires & Promotions
Erin Kate O’Donnell recently joined David Michael & Co. as marketing coordinator at the company’s headquarters in Philadelphia.

Derek Sabow has been promoted to district sales manager, and will relocate from the company’s Columbus, OH territory to Minneapolis, MN. In this capacity, Sabow will be responsible for overseeing sales in Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.

Yue Jian Ping has been promoted to deputy general manager of David Michael (Beijing) Flavor Co. Ltd. and will be responsible for managing the company’s affiliate in China.
